In any case, can't you just put a roll of virtual quarters/25p in the machine regardless?

I don't have it but I guess it must be in AES mode, where it has limited continues

Oh, but that's absolutely how the Arcade version worked: once you ran out of quarters, it was "game over" for you. ;o)
